William David Bunton, Jr.

Mr. William David Bunton, Jr., age 61, beloved husband to Mrs. Regina Bunton, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday February 18, 2025 at his home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Clyde M. Ergle, II. (Jerri Lynn), Robert D. Ergle (Dana); sister, Lisa (Steve) Womack; grandchildren, Tyler Smith (Makayla), Angellyna Ergle (Chris), Maggie Ergle, Dylan Smith, Sophia Ergle, Mason Ergle, Eva Weeks, Peyton Ergle, Preston Ergle, Paxton Ergle; a cousin that was like a brother, Barry Culbertson (Mei-Hsia); cousin, Donna Marcus (Dave); aunt, Pearl Smith; nephews, Michael and Sammy Womack; lifelong friends, Gary Hensley, Keith Presley; and his "furry companion", his dog, "Skeeter". 

He is preceded in death by his parents, William David "Billy" Bunton, Sr. and Betty Sims Bunton; and his aunt, Peggy Sims Ripley.

Mr. Bunton was a member of Mercy Church in Aiken, SC. He was employed by the Aiken County School District as Head Custodian. Among his hobbies he enjoyed panning for gold in Alaska and throughout the southeast. He has traveled to 49 states in the US. His dream was to move to Alaska. Mr. Bunton enjoyed "all things outdoors". He loved to go to the flea market and "wheel and deal" on the weekends. He had a heart of gold and was a kind spirited peace maker. He was described by one of his grandchildren as true, wise, genuine and humble. He will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

A memorial service honoring his life will be held on Saturday March 1, 2025 at 11AM at Mercy Church in Aiken with Pastor Kenny Murphy officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
