Walker Delane Johnson

December 31, 1969 — December 4, 2011

JOHNSON-Mr. Walker Delane Johnson, age 67, of Warrenville, S.C., beloved husband of Virginia Burckhalter Johnson and son of Zula Mae Jowers Johnson and the late Julian E. Johnson, entered into eternal rest at his residence with his family by his side on Sunday morning, December 4, 2011. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons: Rodney Johnson, Allen Johnson both of Batesburg, Terry Johnson of Aiken. and Julian Johnson of Warrenville; daughters, Laura Johnson of Batesburg and Sherri Perry of Gloverville; brothers, Tommy (Faye) Johnson and Danny Ray (Cecilia) Johnson both of Warrenville; a sister, Julia (David) Johnson of Warrenville; thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by sons; Billy Driggers, Ray Johnson, Phillip Johnson and a daughter, Kay Johnson. He was born in and was a lifelong resident of Aiken County, S.C. He was a member of Gloverville First Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He loved children; as was evidenced by the fact that he played Santa Claus at the Aiken Mall for many years, and the many children that sat on his lap always brought gifts back to him. So in summation, to be loved so much by children, we would have to say that Delane Johnson was a pretty nice jolly fellow and shall be greatly missed by all whose lived he touched along the way; however, there is a consolation for his family and many friends in knowing that this Santa will be spending Chistmas this year with Jesus; the one that is the real reason for the season. A service celebrating his life will be held today, Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Gloverville First Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Napier officiating. The interment will follow at the Warrenville Cemetery. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Packer, Ben Abney and Gary Graham. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 PM until the hour of service. The family has suggested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the funeral home to assist with the funeral expense or to Hospice Care of S. C., 946 Millbrook Ave., Aiken, S.C. 29803. Napier Funeral Home, 315 Main Street Graniteville, S. C. 29829 is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
