Virgil R. Conaway

CONAWAY- Mr.Virgil R. Conaway, age 8l, of Graniteville, S.C. husband of the late Ruth Joan Kelley Conaway and son of the late John H. Conaway, Sr. and the late Mattie Lucille Chambley Conaway, answered God’s call and went to the with Jesus on Saturday, May 10, 2014. He is survived by a daughter, Diane (Mike) Turner of Aiken, S.C.; sons, Dennis (Paula) Conaway, Dale (Olline) Conaway both of Batesburg, S.C. and Dean (Linda) Conaway of Graniteville, S.C.; sisters, Sandra (Charlie) Kelley of Aiken, S.C., Sue Perkins, Jeannie (Ricky) Hicks, Cindy (Glenn) Lewis, and Saundra (Tony) Lewis all of Graniteville, S.C.; brothers, Rufus (Joanne) Conaway of Clearwater, S.C., and Ronnie (Edith) Conaway of Graniteville, S.C.; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was born in Columbus, Georgia but has been a lifelong resident of Graniteville, S. C. He was retired from Hickman Mill. He was a member and deacon of Warrenville Revival Center in Warrenville, S.C. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, who loved his family supremely, but most of all, he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ with all of his heart and soul. He shall be greatly missed by his family and all whose lives he touched during the 81 precious years that God granted him on this earth; however, death is not the end as God has promised eternal life for all who believe and trust in Him. He has just made that great transition to his new Heavenly home, where all is well and a “Crown of Life” awaits him. A graveside service will be held at the Warrenville Cemetery on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 12:30 PM with Rev. Leroy Beard and Rev. Charlie Kelley officiating. His sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In honoring his request, there will be no visitation with the family at the funeral home.
