BOYD-Mr. Vernon S. “Podge” Boyd, age 80, of Aiken, S.C., loving husband of Joyce Carpenter Boyd and son of the late John Avery Boyd, Sr. and the late Birtie Rogers Boyd, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 5, 2015. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Eloise (Mark) Carroll of Williston, S.C., Deborah (Bill) McConnell of New Ellenton, S.C. and Lisa (Billy) Day of Aiken, S.C.; sons, Robert (Sally) Boyd of Aiken,S.C., Allen (Tammy) Boyd of Wagener, S.C. and John Curtis Boyd of Aiken, S.C.; sisters, Aileen Lively of Augusta, Ga. and Annie Boyd Green of Hephizabah, GA.; brothers, John A. Boyd of Grovetown, Ga. and Thomas R. Boyd of Kingsport, TN.; thirteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. He was born in Edgefield, S.C. and has been a lifelong resident of Aiken County. He was a retired farm equipment mechanic. He was a member of Banner of Love Holiness Church in Aiken, S.C. The family stated that when he was touched by the spirit while worshiping his Lord and Savior, he would shout “Well Glory”, and they all share in the belief that he is now in glory, shouting with the Saints. What a testimony! The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. A service, celebrating his life and home going, will be held in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Ashley Hawkins and Rev. Carrie Gorden officiating. The interment will follow the service at the Graniteville Cemetery. The Pallbearers will be Eric McConnell, Stewart Carroll, Bobby Chavis, Billy Day, Darrell Hall and Ronnie Hall.
