Thelma Barton Sims

December 31, 1969 — October 6, 2013

SIMS-Mrs. Thelma Barton Sims, age 86, of Warrenville, S.C., loving wife for 71 years to Lewis Arthur Sims, Jr. and daughter of the late Elwood Barton and the late Maggie Widener Barton Beard, entered into eternal rest at her residence on Sunday, October 6, 2013. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Leonard Moore of Warrenville, S.C.; grandchildren, Wendi and Rusty Arrington, Kipp and Julie K. Moore, Crystal and Chris Couch; great grandchildren, Corey Arrington, Caleb Arrington, Britney Moore and Nick Moore. She was preceded in death by brothers, Marvin Barton, Lonnie Barton and Wilton Barton. She was born in and was a lifelong resident of Aiken County, S. C. She retired from Gregg Cloth Room in Quality Control after 44 years of service. She was a dedicated Chartered Member of Howlandville Baptist Church, where she served as the church pianist and organist, sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for over 50 years. She loved her family, her church, her many friends but above all, her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her goal in life was to win the lost for Jesus. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother who shall be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched during the 86 years that God granted her on this earth; however, death is not the end, as God has promised eternal life for all who believe in Him. She has just made that great transition to her new Heavenly home. She has finished her journey and is now at peace with her maker. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Tuesday evening, October 8th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A service celebrating her life and home going will be held in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 2:00 PM with Dr. Ronald Hasty and Chaplian Rick Boland officiating. The interment will follow at the Graniteville Cemetery. The Pallbearers will be Corey Arrington, Caleb Arrington, Nick Moore, Price Kneece, Emmett Harkins and Ronnie Moore. The family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to Chaplain Rick Boland with Infinity Hospice for the special care that they gave to their loved one during her illness. Napier Funeral Home, Inc., 315 Main Street, Graniteville, S.C. 29829 is in charge of the funeral arrangements. You can visit the online guest register at www.napierfuneralhomeinc.com.
