Stephen J. Yanak

YANAK-Mr. Stephen J. Yanak, age 73, of Aiken, S.C., loving husband of Leah Yarnell Yanak and son of the late Stephen A. Yanak and the late Julia Dobrovolski Yanak, entered into rest on Monday, December 29, 2014. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Stephen J. Yanak of Augusta, Ga., James R. Yanak of Texas and Gerald Battaglia of Augusta, Ga.; a daughter, Nichol Burchfield of Kentucky; a sister, Judith Fustos of Sharon, Pennsylvania.; thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his children, Jason Battaglia, Michelle Simoni and Brian Yanak. He was born in Farrell, Pennsylvania but has been a resident of Aiken County since 1978. He was retired Military, Marines and Army, with 20 years of combined service. He served two deployments in Vietnam. He was a member of St. Gerard Roman Catholic Church in Aiken, S.C. He was a member of the VFW Post 10601 and the American Legion Post #205 in Aiken. He was also a member of the forty and eight. He shall be greatly missed by his family and all whose lives he touched during his lifetime. Death cannot destroy precious memories, and he shall live on forever in the hearts of his loved ones. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home this Friday evening, January 2, 2015 at 7:00 PM. The interment will be private at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery, Ft. Jackson, S.C.
