DIXON-Sgt. First Class Retired, Gibbs H. Dixon, age 67, of Graniteville, S.C., loving husband for 24 years to Barbara “Kay” Bagley Dixon and son of the late Ralph O. Dixon and the late Rebecca “Beck” McAlister Dixon, entered into rest on Monday, March 31, 2014. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Paul (Sabrina) Allen Dixon, David Ralph (Deborah) Dixon both of Warrenville, S.C., Gibbs H. Dixon, II, Alexander Bryan (Tina) Dixon both of Aiken, S. C.; a daughter, Karen (Kevin) Scott of Belvedere, S. C.; grandchildren, Cody Dixon, Rebecca Dixon, Brayson Dixon, Kaylynn Dixon, Lyn McClain and Joey McClain; two nieces, Rebecca and Patricia Dixon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon Dixon. He was born in Greenwood, S.C. but has been a lifelong resident of Aiken County, S.C. He was a US Army Veteran, having bravely served his country during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He loved fixing cars; in fact, he taught Auto Mechanics at the Aiken Career Center. He loved Nascar racing and was a diehard Carolina Gamecock Fan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He shall be greatly missed by his family and all whose lives he touched during the 67 years that God granted him on this earth; however death cannot destroy precious memories, and he shall live on forever in the hearts of his loved ones. He has finished his journey and is now at peace with his maker. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Wednesday evening, April 2nd from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. A celebration his life service will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Risor and St. Joseph Chaplain, Susan Galasso officiating. The interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Langley, S.C. with full Military Honors. The Pallbearers will be Robbie Goldman, Johnny Kolb, Matthew Osteen, Mark Matthews, Cody Eubanks and Raiford Pool. Memorials, in his honor, may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, S.C. 29210 or to St. Joseph Hospice, 1708 Bunting Drive, Suite A, North Augusta, S. C. 29841-6124.
