MORRIS-Sammie “Sam” Edward Morris, age 83, of Aiken, S. C., loving husband for 43 years to Doris Hook Morris and son of the late Lucious Alton Morris and the late Bessie Smith Morris, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 10, 2014. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Edward Lucious (Evelyn) Morris of Aiken, S.C. and Richard M. (Linda) Morris of North Augusta, S.C.; a daughter, Becky Anne (Steve) Garner of Aiken, S.C.; a brother, Matthew (Pearl) Morris of Aiken, S.C.; Brothers-in-law, John Wayne (Paula) Hook and George Hook both of Aiken, S.C.; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Lucy Morris; a sister, Lizzie Mae Peacock; brothers, Paul Morris and Perry Alton Morris. Sam, as he was so fondly known by his family and friends, was born in and was a lifelong resident of Aiken County, S.C. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Aiken. He retired from Westinghouse as a Senior Supervisor with 39 ½ years of service. He was a US Army Veteran with three Bronze Stars having served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #156 AFM, A & A Scottish Rites of Free Masonry SJ. USA. He was an avid fisherman and gardener. He was also a big Nascar fan. Above all of these hobbies and his love for his wife, came his love for his pets, Baby Beau and Shawn Boy. Sam has been suffering with an illness for quite some time. God looked down and decided that it was time to heal him, so he called him home to be with Him, and he now has a new body free from pain and sorrow. He will be greatly missed; however, death is not the end as God has promised eternal life for all who believe in Him. Death cannot destroy precious memories, and Sam will live on forever in the hearts of his family and friends. Earth’s loss is truly Heaven’s gain. The family would like to extend a special “Thank You’ to Dr. Ergul at the Cancer Center, Dr. Mark Meyer and to Nurse, Vicky Fulmer and all the Staff at UPAC for the wonderful care that they gave Sam during his illness. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Sunday evening, April 13th from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. A service celebrating his life and home going will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church in Aiken, S.C. on Monday, April 14, 2014 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Taylor Wells officiating. The interment will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors. The Pallbearers will be Glenn Fulmer, Adam Fulmer, Charlie McDiffit, Robert Peacock, Stan Rodgers and Wallace Pitts.
