Roy Edwin Duffie

DUFFIE-Mr. Roy Edwin Duffie, age 82 of Aiken, S.C., loving husband for 61 years to Vivian Brown Duffie and son of the late Martin Edwin Duffie and the late Ina Whitfield Duffie, entered into rest Saturday morning, January 26, 2013. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; Lynn Duffie Edwards (Chuck) of Greenville, S.C., Charles Edwin Duffie (Benita) of Leesville, S.C. and Denise Duffie Turner (Rick) of Aiken, S.C.; grandchildren, Angela Brown Bulla (Sarah) of Tampa, Florida, Melissa Turner Westbrook (Jim) of Aiken, S.C. and Ben Edwin Duffie of Leesville, S.C. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carlisle H. Duffie. He was a US Army Veteran stationed in both Alaska and Korea. He proudly served his country from 1949 to 1952 and during this service, he received both the Silver and Bronze Star Medals. He was born in Vaucluse, S.C. and has been a lifelong resident of Aiken County, S.C. He was a member of Vaucluse United Methodist Church. His positive attitude, reminders to always enjoy “the little things in life” and his love for gardening will always be remembered by his family and friends. The family wishes to especially thank Dr. William T. Neumann and Dr. Richard Bromer and staff for the excellent care that they extended to their loved one during the past twenty years. A service celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Vaucluse United Methodist Church with Mr. Tim Harley officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. The interment will follow the funeral at the Vaucluse Cemetery. The men of the church will serve as active and honorary pallbearers. Memorials, in Mr. Duffie’s honor, may be made to Vaucluse United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 19, Vaucluse, S.C. 29850 or to the American Cancer Society, 2607 Commons Blvd., Augusta, Ga. 30909.
