ARTHUR-Entered into rest on Sunday, February 6, 2011, Mr. Roy E. Arthur, age 85 of Aiken, S.C., beloved husband for 57 years to Lizzie Randall Arthur and son of the late William E. Arthur and the late Alice Kneece Arthur. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons and daughters-in-laws; William (Dianne) Arthur of Graniteville, S.C., Wayne Arthur of Aiken, S.C., James Arthur of Sevierville, TN., Dennis Arthur of Wagener, S.C., Ronnie (Shannon) Arthur of North Augusta, S.C. and Odell (Melissa) Arthur of Graniteville, S.C.; daughters and sons-in-law, Wandra (Michael, Sr.) Kiser of North Augusta, S.C., Sandra (Gene) Wood of Windsor, S. C. and Becky (Mike) Heath of Aiken, S.C.; a brother, James Bronson of Aiken, S.C.; thirty-six grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. He was born in Ward, S. C. but has been a lifetime resident of Aiken County, S.C. He was a member of Highland Pines Baptist Church in Aiken. He was a US Army Veteran having served his country during World War II. He was a member of the DAV Chapter 43 and a member of the Purple Heart Association. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched during the 85 years that God granted him on this earth; but life as we know it doesn’t end with death but only begins in a better place. A service celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home with Rev. Wesley Greene and Rev. Tim Webb officiating. The interment will follow at Aiken Memorial Park. The pallbearers will be Nickalous Arthur, Milledge Day, Tony Inabinet, Michael Kiser, Jr., Gene Ray Wood, Sr. and Bland Crawford. The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight, Tuesday, February 8th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 1003 Hammond Rd., Aiken, S.C. 29803 or to the American Diabetes Assoc., 17 Executive Park, Suite 115, Atlanta, Ga. 30329-2012.
