REDD-Mrs. Roberta “Bert†Rains Redd, age 79 of Vaucluse, S.C., beloved wife for 60 years to William “Alonzo†Redd and daughter of the late Smith Rains and the late Mary Ethel Pollard Rains, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 15, 2012. In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons: Stanley (Phyllis) Redd, Richard ( Sharon) Redd, Andy (Roseanne) Redd and Ken (Suzanne) Redd all of Aiken County, S.C.; nine grandchildren, Derrick (Mindy) Redd, Kyle (Natalie) Redd, Stuart (Nikki) Redd, Vicki Redd, Josh (Kindra) Redd, Stephen Redd, Mitchell Redd, Shelby Redd, Cody Redd and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Billy S. Rains, Charles A. Rains and a sister, Sara R. Harrigal. She was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Vaucluse and a member of the Fidelis Ladies Sunday School Class. She was a Godly woman who loved her husband, children, grandchildren and family with an unconditional love. She was a people person, as she would do anything she could to help anybody. She also was a fantastic cook and was well known for feeding anyone who just happen to drop by at feeding time. Her next love was for wildlife; all types of animals, and she also loved the outdoors and gardening. Yes, Bert, as she was so fondly known by her family and friends, was a unique, caring and special lady whose mere presence could light up a room full of people. Needless to say, she will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all whose lives she touched during the 79 precious years that God granted her on this earth; however, she has definitely made a difference in many a person’s life and her memory will surely live on forever in everyone’s heart. Life for her has not ended; she has just made a transition to her new Heavenly home where her “Crown of Life†awaits. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Friday evening, August 17th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A service celebrating her life and home going will be held on Saturday, August 18th at 3:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Vaucluse with Rev. J. B. Redd and Rev. Dr. Harold Herd officiating. The interment will follow at the Vaucluse Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Debra Logue, Douglas Rains, Cherri Hudson, Richard Johnson, Tim Scott, Wyman Watkins, Jennifer Murphy, Kimberly Harrigal and members of the Fidelis Ladies Sunday School Class. Memorials, in her honor may be made to her church at # l Church St., Vaucluse, S.C. 29801. Napier Funeral Home, 315 Main St., Graniteville, S. C. 29829 is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
