Mr. Robert Edward Sanders went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 11, 2023.

He is preceded in death by his parents Robert Carusoe and Thelma Louise Sanders.

He is survived by his sons, Scott Edward (Vanessa) Sanders, Robert Grady (Wanda) Sanders; daughter, Rachel Michelle (Barry) McDougal; grandchildren, Sommer (Gerard Rowe) Farmer, Aarial (Logan) Murray, Kylie Sanders, Charlotte Sanders, Jack Sanders, Elliot Sanders, Caroline Sanders; and former spouse, whom he still cared deeply for, Rachel Sanders.

Edward served honorably in the United States Navy for 2 years, after which he went on to work for the United States Postal Service until his retirement. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Augusta for many years. He was a good man and a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. Edward loved history, reading, fishing, and flowers, especially his azaleas. He loved to make his family and friends laugh with his witty sense of humor. More than anything he loved his family. He will be remembered for being a loving father, grandfather, and friend.

A Funeral Service, celebrating his life, will be held at the Chapel of Napier Funeral home on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at 4 P.M. with Pastor Jim Knight to officiate. The burial will follow immediately at Pineview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Logan Murray, Gerard Rowe, Jack Sanders, Elliot Sanders, Alan Uhl, and Trey Hays.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Mr. Sanders’s memory be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Jews for Jesus, or the Golden Harvest Food Bank.
