Robert C. Hewitt

HEWITT-Mr. Robert Charlie “R. C.” Hewitt, Sr., age 77, of Graniteville, S.C., loving husband of Brenda Rodgers Hewitt, entered into rest peacefully at his residence on Saturday, April 23, 2011 after a battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Charlie and Edna Mae Bowers Hewitt. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Shirley Ann Carter and her companion, Freddie Brown; a brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy Hewitt, Sr. and Roma Jean Hewitt; his children, Teresa (Bill) Templin, Bobby Hewitt, Jamie (Kathy) Hewitt, Robby (Marickie) Hewitt, Tony (Benji) Kirkbride, Todd Kirkbride, Tom (Frances) Kirkbride, Karen (David) Hall, Terry Kirkbride, David Larson, Brandi Rodgers and Chistine Singler; 23 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth “Libby” Leopard and Rose Marie “Pee Wee” Garnto. He was of the Baptist faith. R.C. retired from SRS after 19 years as a graphic artist and sign painter. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Falcons and the Atlantic Braves. He shall be greatly missed by his family and friends; however death is not the end, as the gift of eternal life is the promise of God for all who believe on Him. A service celebrating his life will be conducted Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 5:00 PM in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Satcher officiating. The interment will follow at the Warrenville Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Butch Huff, Jimmy Todd, Mike Huff, Gary Crummie, Gene Garland, Marion Kneece and Edward Inabinet. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday evening, April 27th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials, in R.C.’s honor, may be made to Regency Hospice, 105 Summerwood Way, Suite D. Aiken, S.C. 29803 or to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, S.C. 29210. The family wuld like to extend a hearfelt “Thank You” to everyone who took part in taking care of R.C. during his extended illness.
