REV. JAMES MARVIN NAPIER

NAPIER-Rev.James Marvin Napier,Sr. loving husband of 62 years to Evelyn Johnson Napier, and son of the late William Edward Napier and the late Annie Roberson Napier, entered peacefully into eternal rest at his residence, on Monday, December 20, 2010. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, James Marvin “Jimmy”Napier, Jr. and his wife, Barbara, Miriam N. James and her husband, Raymond and Deborah N. Hobbs and her husband, Ronnie; a brother, Clarence E. Napier and his wife, Joyce; seven grandsons, Jason L. Napier and his wife, Liana, Johnathan E. Napier,, Justin E. Napier, Bradley A. Hobbs and his wife Tessa, Benjamin R. Hobbs and his wife, Sarah, Brandon P. James and his wife, Roseann and Blake M. James; four great grandchildren, Mia K. Napier, Caroline G. Hobbs, Emily A. Hobbs and Colton B. James. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Annie N. Wardell and Mildred N. Givens and his older brother, William Lewis Napier. He was born in and was a resident of Aiken County. He was employed by Graniteville Company and Savannah River Plant before answering God’s call to enter the ministry. He was privileged to serve as pastor of seven Southern Baptist churches; Mt. Horeb in Wrens, Ga., Mt. Lebanon in Augusta, Ga., Woodlawn in Baxley, Ga., Silvercrest in Augusta, Ga., Talatha in Aiken, S. C., Marshall Memorial in Eatonton, Ga. and Victory in Milledgeville, Ga. Marvin was a faithful servant to his Lord and Savior. He was a loving husband, a strong dedicated father, a proud “Pa” and great grandfather. He exemplified to all that Jesus Christ was preeminent in his life. …After he served his own generation by the will of God, he fell asleep…” Acts 13:36. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Gloverville, 2212 Augusta Rd., Gloverville, S. C. with his son, Rev. Jimmy Napier officiating. Interment will follow at the Graniteville Cemetery. The pallbearers will be his seven grandsons. The honorary pallbearers will Otis Melton, Rob Boyd, Bill Holley, Bobby DuBose, Earl Satcher, Emmett Harkins, Price Kneece, Bob Smith, Ronnie Moore, Keith Jordan and Mark Taylor. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:30 PM this evening, Wednesday, December 22nd at First Baptist Church of Gloverville. The family extends a heartfelt thanks to all of his physicians, the compassionate care of Solaris Hospice, and to Napier Funeral Funeral Home for their love and kindness shown to the family in their time of bereavement.
