Raymond Oliver Scott, Jr., age 68, beloved husband to Mrs. Sherry Martin Scott, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday January 7, 2025.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Shawn) Barton, Amanda (Brandon) Barton, Rusty (Kayla) Scott, Bradley (Taylor) Scott; brother, Cecil (Teresa) Scott; sister, Carol (Gene) Herron; grandchildren, Braylon Barton, Gracie Barton, Cameron Barton, Brianna Barton, Deacon Scott, Messer Scott, Everett Scott, Isabella McCoach, Maddison McCoach, and two grandchildren on the way; nieces, Genia Amon, Kayla Scott; special aunt, Mary Ann Reece; special cousins, Thomas, Bobby, Bill and Joann Scott; and an uncle, Colin Martin.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond O., Sr. and Nancy A. Scott; and niece, Dana Richardson.
Ray was a servant. His call in life was to serve his community and he did it well. He got his start in law enforcement with the Graniteville Police Dept. From there he served with the Aiken Department of Public Safety retiring as a Captain, The ADPS SWAT Team, Wackenhut Security, G.V.W. Fire Department, as Chief; Langley Fire Department, and the Aiken County Career Center. He was also known to many as "Coach Ray" as he was a dedicated coach for Dixie Youth Baseball. He is loved by many and will be deeply missed by all whose lives he impacted. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
A funeral service honoring his life and legacy will be held on Saturday January 11, 2025 at 1pm at Millbrook Baptist Church in Aiken with Pastor Stephen Phillips and Pastor Wes Holbrook officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday evening January 10, 2025 from 5-7pm at Christian Heritage Church in Graniteville. The interment will immediately follow the funeral service at the Historic Graniteville Cemetery.
Pallbearer's will be: Joey Patsourakos, Bob Besley, Keith Glover, Clay Whitt, Harold Cain and Thomas Scott.
Honorary Pallbearer's will be: Aiken Department of Public Safety, G.V.W. Fire Department and Langley Fire Department.
