Nelva "Nana" Herring

December 31, 1969 — May 31, 2011

HERRING-Ms. Nelva “Nanna” Leavell Herring, age 77, of Aiken, S.C., wife of the late Alton C. Herring and daughter of the late Francis Leavell and the late Doris Estella Freeland Leavell, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 31, 2011. She is survived by sons: David C. Herring of Aiken and Pete F. Herring of Franklin, N.C.; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was born in Bath, S.C. and was a lifelong resident of Aiken County. She was a dedicated member of Couchton Baptist Church. She was a retired Registered Nurse, who really enjoyed her work, which was caring for others; likewise, she was a caring and loving mother and grandmother. Needless to say, she shall be greatly missed by her family and many friends; however there is a consolation in knowing that she has gone to a Heavenly place, where life and love never ends. Her memories will live on forever in her loved ones’ hearts. A service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Couchton Baptist Church in Couchton, S.C. with Rev. Tim Johnson officiating. The interment will follow at Aiken Memorial Park in Aiken, S.C. The pallbearers will be Ernie Youngblood, Willie Simon, Dave Golden, Jimmy Golden, Lamar Hill and Brian Burrell. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Thursday evening, June 2nd from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials, in Mrs. Herring’s honor, may be made to Savannah River Cancer Foundation, 235 Barnwell Avenue NW, Aiken, S.C. 29801. Napier Funeral Home, Inc., 315 Main St., Graniteville, S.C. 29829 is in charge of the funeral arrangements. To sign our guest registry, you can log on to www.napierfuneralhomeinc.com.
