Miriam Jean Carpenter Johnson

July 11, 1936 — January 27, 2018

Miriam Jean Johnson, age 81, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 27th, 2018. She is survived by her children; Lynne (Mike) Harling, Lee Marvin Johnson; sister, Myrtle “Helen” Byrd; brother, Jim (Anne) Carpenter; grandchildren, Taylor M. Harling, Ashlyn N. Harling, M. Leyton Johnson and Caroline M. Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Allison and Myrtle Beatrice Taylor Carpenter. Ms. Johnson worked for 30 years as a life guard, swim instructor and worked sports camps at Gregg Park and teaching school for over 30 years. She taught three years at Jenkins High School in Savannah Georgia, and the remainder with Aiken County Public Schools at Graniteville High and Midland Valley High Schools. She was a great mother, grandmother, sister, teacher, coach and mentor. She devoted her life to helping others and making sure that everyone was loved no matter what there situation was. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she impacted in the 81 precious years that God granted her on earth and we know that today, although she is absent from the body, she is present with the Lord in heaven. A funeral service celebrating her life will be conducted on Wednesday, January 31st, 2018 at 3 o’clock pm at Christian Heritage Church in Graniteville, with the Rev. Stephen Phillips, Rev. Jody Padgett and Rev. Todd Sessions officiating. The interment will immediately follow in the Historic Graniteville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening January 30th, 2018 from 5-7pm at Christian Heritage Church.
