DAVIS-Answered God’s call on the Lord’s day, Sunday, October 24, 2010, Mrs. Mildred Vaughn Brantley Davis, age 89 of Aiken, S.C., wife of the late Willis D. Brantley and the late James G. Davis. She was the daughter of the late Otis Vaughn and the late Bertha Deal Vaughn. She is survived by a daughter, Nell Brantley Arnold of Burlington, N. C.; two sons, Melvin Brantley and his wife, Ellen of Pembroke, N. C. and Wayne Brantley of Mesquite, Texas; three brothers, James W. Vaughn of Lyons, Ga., Lonnie C. Vaughn and Raymond Vaughn both of Vidalia, Ga.; eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by sons, baby boy, Larry Brantley and Leon Brantley; a daughter, Iris Brantley Turner Ludwig and a brother, Cleveland Vaughn. She was born in Lyons, Ga. but has been a lifelong resident of Aiken County, S.C. She was a good mother, sister and grandmother. She had a degree in homemaking, as she successfully raised six children. She was a very gracious lady who had many friends and loved ones; but above all, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She really enjoyed attending and singing in Church. Yes, she leaves a void in many people’s lives, but life for her has not ended, just only begun in a better land—to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Yes, she is shouting on the “Hills of Gloryâ€. A graveside service celebrating her life will be conducted on today, Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Graniteville, S.C. with Rev. Charles E. Brown officiating. As per her request, there will be no visitation with the family at the funeral home. Napier Funeral Home, 315 Main Street, Graniteville, S. C. is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
