STEPHENS -Melvin R. (16) Stephens, age 63 of Burnettown, S.C., husband of the late Dollie Stephens and son of the late Marion B. Stephens and the late Allie Saylor Stephens, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 10, 2014. He is survived by a daughter, Tina (Ronnie) Bennett of Harlan, Kentucky; sons, Melvin (Christina D.) Stephens, Jr.of Aiken, S.C.,Wendell Stephens of Langley, S.C., Gillis (Christina W.) Stephens of North Augusta, S.C.; sisters, Peggy Causey and Luwanna Buckhart both of Harlan, Kentucky; brothers, Thomas M. Stephens, Michael Stephens, Teddy Dean Stephens all of Harlan, Kentucky, Vincent Stephens and Freddie Stephens both of Wagener, S.C.; fourteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was born in Munci, Indiana but has been a resident of Aiken County for the past forty years. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a US Army Veteran. He was a Manager at Aiken Training Track for many years. His family stated that he was a traditional family man who enjoyed collecting things, especially old coins. He shall be greatly missed by his family, friends and all whose lives he touched during the 63 precious years that God granted him on this earth; however, he shall live on forever in the hearts of his loved ones. He has finished his journey and is now at peace with his maker. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Friday evening, June 13th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. A service celebrating his life will be held at Howlandville Baptist Church in Howlandville, S.C. on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Josh McClendon officiating.
