Mary B. McCord

Mary Buckner McCord, age 80, beloved wife of the late Henry Grady McCord, Jr., entered into rest on Wednesday July 12, 2023.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan McCord; sons, Joey (Karen) McCord, Chris (Krissa) McCord, Mac (Michelle) McCord; brothers, Johnny Buckner, Bobby Buckner; sisters, Sylvia Smith, Nina Adams; and six grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, Perry Cecil and Ida Mae Burrell Buckner; brother, Carroll Buckner; and sisters, Ola Mae Taylor, Miriam Clayton, Marie Creed and Evelyn Waters.

She was a beloved mother and grandmother who took excellent care of her family. She loved baking and cooking and was an excellent mother figure to many children she helped raise over her lifetime.

A funeral service honoring her life and legacy will be held on Monday morning July 17, 2023 at 9:30AM in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home with Pastor Jody Padgett Officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Graniteville. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening July 16, 2023 from 6-8pm at the funeral home. 

Pallbearers will be: Andrew McCord, Thomas McCord, Alex McCord, Ben McCord, Christopher Jowers and Thomas "Buster" Waters.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital at: 501 St. Jude Place. Memphis, TN 38105.
