Marvin W. Hancock

September 11, 1930 — June 21, 2017

Hancock-Marvin W. Hancock, age 86, of Aiken, S.C., loving husband of Peggy Baughman Hancock and son of the late Frank Hancock, Sr. and the late Myrtis Turner Hancock, entered into rest with his family by side, at his residence on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Phillip W. (Reanne) Hancock; a daughter, Marilyn H. (Robert) Coursey both of Aiken, S.C.; two grandchildren, Andrew (Jackie) Coursey and David (Deann) Coursey; two great grandchildren, Jeremy and Cameron Coursey; several nieces and nephews. He was born in Vaucluse, S.C. and was a lifelong resident of Aiken County. He attended Fellowship of Truth Baptist Church in Graniteville, S.C. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, with all his heart, and they in turn loved him. His hobbies included gardening, fishing and woodworking, with one of his specialties being creating model cars. He was a loving husband for 64 ½ years to Peggy, a wonderful father, grandfather and friend who shall be greatly missed by his family and all whose lives he touched during the 86 years that God granted him on this earth. Death cannot destroy precious memories, and he shall live on forever in the hearts of his loved ones. A service, celebrating his life and homegoing, will be held in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Caleb Coffin and Rev. Jamie Bodiford officiating. The interment will follow at the Vaucluse Cemetery. The Pallbearers will be Timothy Leopard, Jr., Kenneth Rogers, Kenneth Cockrell, Ed Norris, Andrew and David Coursey. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brett Spradley, Glenn Spradley, Frankie Spradley, Jeremy and Cameron Coursey. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home this Saturday evening, June 24th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
