Marie Davis Snipes

December 31, 1969 — September 2, 2016

SNIPES-Marie Davis Snipes, age 75, of Ridge Spring, S.C., loving wife for 59 wonderful years to Chester Snipes, Jr. and daughter of the late Henry Oscar Davis and the late Ethel Gilstrap Davis, entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 2, 2016. In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Gail (Roger) Godwin, Donna Gunter and Regina Snipes all of Ridge Spring, S.C.; sisters, Dorothy Goodwin of Aiken, S.C. and Jeanette Slade of Windsor, S.C.; a brother, Henry Davis of Greenwood, S.C.; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Ray Snipes. She was born in Toccoa, Georgia. She was a member of Unity Holiness Church in Aiken, S.C. where she held the position of Secretary/Treasurer for 30 years. She taught Sunday School for years, and she was an Ordained Minister. Her family stated that she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and she was a great “Role Model.” She shall be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched during the 75 years that God granted her on this earth; however, life for her has not ended, as she has just made that great transition to her new Heavenly home, where all is joy and peace, and no more sad goodbyes are ever spoken. “To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord.” A service, celebrating her life, will be held at Unity Holiness Church in Aiken on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at 3:00 PM with Rev. James Sharpe officiating. The interment will follow the service at Holsenback Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Napier Funeral Home, Inc., 315 Main Street, Graniteville, S.C. 29829, is in charge of the funeral arrangements. You can visit the online guest register at www.napierfuneralhomeinc.com
