Margie Stiefel Whitehurst

WHITEHURST-Margie Stiefel Whitehurst, age 89, of Chester, Virginia, wife of the late Claude Harril Whitehurst and daughter of the late Claude Idell Stiefel and the late Lillie Mae Pope Stiefel, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 9, 2014. She is survived by a son, Claude “Randy” Ramey, Sr. and his wife, Bonnie of Chester, Va.; stepsons, Harril, Mark, David and Keith Whitehurst; grandchildren, David Ramey, Misty Barker, Dusty Willett, Claude Ramey, Jr., Mary Beth Ramey and Sarah Ramey; great grandchildren, Kallen Ramey, Owen Keating and Aliya Ramey; a nephew, George Stiefel; nieces, Melanie Stiefel Cole and Celeste Stiefel Spires. She was preceded in death by a son, William Stanley Ramey, Jr. and a brother, George Stiefel. She was born in Aiken County, S.C. but was a resident of Virginia for almost 30 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Aiken, where music was a big part of her and her late husband’s life. She began playing the piano at age seven and continued to play up until her death. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, who was known not only for music but also for her great love of quilting and flower beds. She shall be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched during the 89 precious years that granted her on this earth; however, death is not the end, as she has just made that great transition to her new Heavenly home. She has finished her journey and is now at peace with her Maker. A service, celebrating her life, will be held in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 4:00 PM with Rev. Gene Wilson officiating. The interment will follow at the Graniteville Cemetery. The Pallbearers will be David Ramey, C. J. Ramey, Harril Whitehurst, Jr., Mark Whitehurst, Alex Couch, and Cody Couch.
