Maedee Widener Johnson

December 31, 1969 — July 23, 2010

JOHNSON-Entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 23, 2010, Mrs. Maedee Widener Johnson, age 88 of Vaucluse, S. C., wife of the late Ernest Johnson, Jr. and daughter of the late Lloyd W. Widener and the late Katie McCormick Widener. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law; Lloyd and Landis Johnson of Vaucluse, David, Sr. and Julia Johnson of Warrenville, Richard Johnson of Graniteville and his close friend, Kay Kitchings; a daughter, Laura Ann Johnson of Vaucluse and her fiancée, Chris Smith; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six sisters and one brother; she was the last of the Widener clan. She was born in and was a lifelong resident of Vaucluse, S. C. She was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church of Vaucluse, a member of the WMU, teacher emeritus of Bethany Sunday School Class and a member of the Senior Ladies Class. She loved beautiful flowers. She also had an unconditional love for her children, grandchildren, her church and her church family. She enjoyed her Friday’s out with her niece, Phyllis. She always had a warm smile for everyone she met, and you always felt welcome in her home. She loved people, as was evidenced by her card mission (she always sent cards to her family and friends for all occasions). Yes, Mrs. Maedee was truly a “Southern Lady” and will be greatly missed by her family and all whose lives she touched during the long good life that God granted her; but life for her has not ended, but rather, she has just made a transition to her new Heavenly home. A celebration of her life service will be held on Monday, July 26, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home with Rev. J. B. Redd and Rev. Hank Flowers officiating. The interment will follow at the Vaucluse Cemetery. The pallbearers will be David Johnson, Jr., Spence Johnson, Patrick Johnson, Efird Johnson, Brian Lowe and Glenn Spradley. The family will receive friends at Napier Funeral Home tonight, Sunday, July 25th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials, in her honor, may be made to the First Baptist Church of Vaucluse, P. O. Box 26, Vaucluse, S.C. 29850. Napier Funeral Home, 315 Main St., Graniteville, S. C. 29829 is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
