Lyle Edwards

December 31, 1969 — February 20, 2011

EDWARDS-Mr. Lyle Edwards age 77, of New Ellenton, S. C., beloved husband of Connie Miles Edwards and son of the late James Martin Edwards and the late Jewel Ferguson Edwards, entered into rest on Sunday, February 20, 2011. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons and daughters-in-law; Marty and Fay Edwards of Graniteville, Sidney Edwards of New Ellenton and Doug and Lara Edwards of Ridge Spring; daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Doug Singleton of Mt. Pleasant, Marie and Robert Williams of New Ellenton, Kim and Otis Priester of Montmorenci, Regina and Ray Brock of New Ellenton; sisters and brother-in-law, Dorothy Williams of Warrenville, Mildred and Calvin Brunson of Aiken; nineteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was born in Greensboro, Georgia but has been a lifelong resident of Aiken County, S.C. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in New Ellenton. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with the New Ellenton Masonic Lodge, a Shriner with Jamil Temple Scottish York Rite, a member of Aiken Shrine Club. He was also a member of the Eastern Star of Jackson, S.C. He was retired from Graniteville Company and during his employment there, he received the “Textile Citizen of the Year” award. He was President of Helping Hands of Aiken for many years. Yes, as evident by all the organizations that Lyle was associated with, he was definitely a “People Person” and was highly respected by his family and all who knew him. He was a great friend to mankind, and yet while being so active in civic functions, he still had time to be a great husband, father and grandfather. Needless to say, he shall be greatly missed by his family, many friends and all whose lives he touched during the 77 years that God granted him on this earth; yes, Aiken County could surely use a lot more citizens like Lyle Edwards. A service commemorating his life will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home with Rev. Leroy Beard and Rev. Finley Sizemore officiating. The interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Masonic Rites. Masons will serve as active pallbearers. Shriners will serve as Honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Tuesday evening, February 22nd from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials, in Mr. Edward’s honor, may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, S.C. 29605. Napier Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
