LEWIS-James Wade “J. W.” Lewis, age 77, of York, S.C., formerly of Langley, S.C., entered into rest at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, S.C. on Wednesday, September 14, 2016. He is survived by daughters, Patricia Williams (Jamie) and Darlene Brown both of Buchanan, Ga.; sons, James O. (Kelly) Lewis of Aragon, Ga., Alvin (Natasha) Lewis of Temple, Ga. and Robert Lewis of Buchanan, Ga.; a sister, Lenora Brown of Warrenville, S.C.; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Mildred Barton Lewis; his wife, Beverly Atkinson Lewis; a grandson, Johnny Williams and a granddaughter, Taylor Shirey. He retired from the US Navy with an E-6 rating, having proudly served his country during Vietnam and the Cuban Crisis. He was of the Baptist Faith. He shall be greatly missed by his family, friends and all whose lives he touched during his lifetime; however death cannot destroy precious memories, and he shall live on forever in the hearts of his loved ones. He was taken from his family’s side to be by the side of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A graveside service with full Military Honors will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Graniteville, S.C. on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Michael Brendel, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 until 2:45 PM, at which time the funeral procession will leave the funeral home to go to the cemetery.
