Leon Troy Nobles, Jr., age 84, of Graniteville, SC, passed away and entered into the joy of his salvation on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. 

Troy was born in Barnwell County, South Carolina on July 5, 1940, the son of the late Leon Troy Nobles, Sr., and Josephine Bodiford Nobles. 

Troy valued education. He was a proud 1958 graduate of Williston-Elko High School. He graduated form Presbyterian College in 1962 and later earned Master’s Degrees in Education Administration from Western Carolina University and the University of South Carolina. 

Troy devoted over forty years as an educator and leader in the Aiken County School District. He began his career as a history teacher at Leavelle McCampbell High School, later becoming an Assistant Principal followed by Principal at the age of 26. He became the first Principal of Midland Valley High School. He also served as Area Superintendent of North Augusta and Area Superintendent of Midland Valley.

At his core Troy was a man of strong faith. As a member of First Baptist Church Langley, Troy used his gifts of teaching and administration to serve Christ as Sunday School teacher, Deacon and member and chair of various committees. During his retirement years Troy also helped spread God’s Word through The Gideons International.

Troy was known for his good nature and ability to tell great stories. He spun yarns for his friends, family and employees that entertained as well as conveyed lessons that emphasized the virtues that he cherished. 

Troy’s family was his pride and joy. He is survived by his wife, Jeanene Thomas Nobles, the love of his life for 58 years; his daughters, Anna Nobles Hewitt (Ted) and Ellen Nobles Weekley (Greg); brothers and sisters in law, Martha and Mike Strickland and Nancy and Bob Brooks; grandchildren Meredith Hewitt, Amelia Hewitt, Caroline Weekley and Laura Claire Weekley along with many nieces and nephews.

Troy is predeceased by his brother, Julius Len Nobles. 

A visitation will be held at Napier Funeral Home, 315 Main St., Graniteville, SC, from 5:00PM to 7:00PM on Friday, January 31, 2025. A service will be held at Langley First Baptist Church, 2841 Augusta Rd., Langley, SC, at 11:00AM on Saturday, February 1, 2025.

Troy will be missed dearly by those that loved him but are comforted knowing he is well and in Heaven.
