Leon Lawson Lott, Sr., 82, passed away Tuesday, May 8,2012 , in his Aiken home of 55 years surrounded by his beloved wife Mag of 59 years and his family.
Leon Sr. was the son of the late Lawson and Elma Lott of Vaucluse, S C.
He retired from the Savannah River Plant in 1985 after proudly serving in the US Army from 1949 to 1952. He was a tank commander and obtained the rank of Sergeant First Class. Stationed in Ft Hood, Texas he met the sister of his fellow solider, Anthony Angone, and fell in love with the woman, Madeline, he would spend the rest of his life faithfully married to. They were married in Chicago, Illinois in an Italian wedding, and he proudly brought his bride home to Aiken to begin their family.
Their marriage produced three children, Leon,Jr., Terese and Annette. His greatest joy in life was his wife, children, and later grandchildren and great grand children.
He totally dedicated his life to his family and gave his time and love to them unconditionally. He was very proud of all of them.
In addition to loving his family he enjoyed the farm, the lake, hunting, fishing, South Carolina athletics, and coaching Holley Fuel in Aiken Dixie Youth Baseball. He never missed his family's games.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Aiken, American Legion Post 26 and the South Carolina Sheriff's Association

He is survived by his wife of the home, Madeline, children Leon Jr. (Bridgette) of Columbia, Terese Henson (Jeff) of Aiken, Annette Gorrell (Karl) of North Charleston.
Brother, Olin Lott (Nancy) of Vaucluse and sister Margie Mundy (Irvin) of Blythewood.
Grandchildren, Amanda Blackmon (Royce), Lara Lott, Misty Cooper (Ray), McKenzie Lott, Nicole Wittner (Josh), Allyson Langley (Kyle), Leslie Henson and Gina Droz (Brandon).
Great Grandchildren Kaleigh Gorrell, Emmie Blackmon, Kameron Langley and Lawson Cooper, who carries the name of the Lott family.
Janet Mattocks (Herb) of Aiken.
Numerous nieces and nephews in South Carolina and Illinois.
He was predeceased by his parents Lawson and Elma Lott, brother Lindsay and sisters Magdelane and Grace.
The wake will be this Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 at Napier Funeral Home, Graniteville, S.C. The funeral will be on Thursday, May 10th at 2:30 at Aiken First Baptist Church, Aiken, S.C. Rev. Fred Andrea officiating, followed by burial in Aiken Memorial Gardens. The Pall bearers will be his Grandsons Josh Wittner, Royce Blackmon, Ray Cooper, Kyle Langley, Brandon Droz, and Herb Mattocks. Honorary pallbearers will be his Granddaughters and Steve Woodward.
The family thanks everyone for all the support and prayers. He will forever be the "King" of the Lott family.
