Lenwood W. Melton

MELTON-Lenwood W. Melton, age 84, of Graniteville, S.C., loving husband of the late Edith Drakeford Melton and son of the late Jesse T. Melton and the late Jewel Thomas Melton, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 13, 2015. He is survived by daughters, Lynn Marshall of Augusta, Ga.and Julie Taylor of Trenton, S.C.; a son, Don Melton of North Augusta, S.C.; a brother, Otis E. Melton of Graniteville, S.C.; a sister, Sylvia M. Bryant of Graniteville,S. C.; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was born in Graniteville and has been a lifelong resident of Aiken County, S.C. He retired from Graniteville Company/Avondale with 49 years of dedicated service. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Graniteville. He was a member of Masonic Star Lodge #99. As a young man, he enjoyed playing the drums in bands throughout the area. He also enjoyed spending time at Lake Murray on his Pontoon boat, just being on the water. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather and friend who shall be greatly missed by his family and all whose lives he touched during the 84 years that God granted him on this earth. Death cannot destroy precious memories, and he shall live on forever in the hearts of his love ones. He has finished life’s journey and is now at peace with his Maker, the Lord Jesus Christ. A graveside service will be held at the Graniteville Cemetery on Friday, January 16, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Gene Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until 1:45 PM on Friday, January 16, 2015. A graveside service will follow at the Graniteville Cemetery at 2:00 PM with Rev.
