HORRES-Kenneth Turner Horres, age 89, of Aiken, S.C., loving husband for 66 wonderful years to Merilyn Carroll Horres and son of the late Joseph Horres and the late Edna McCather Horres, entered into rest on Friday, May 20, 2016. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Kenneth A.“Artie†(Susan) Horres of Aiken, S.C.; daughters, Connie (Mike) Key of Aiken, S.C. and Carol H. (Mike) Rourk of Charleston, S.C.; a sister, Lorraine Evans and a brother, Russell Horres both of Charleston, S.C.; eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. He was born in Charleston, S.C. but has spent most of his life in Aiken County. He was a member of Levels Baptist Church in Aiken. He retired from S.C. Electric and Gas Co. as a Draftsman after 35 years of dedicated service. He served his country as a Staff Sgt. in the US Army. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He shall be greatly missed by his family and all whose lives he touched during the 89 precious years that God granted him on this earth. Death is not the end as he has just made that great transition to his new Heavenly Home. Earth’s loss is truly Heaven’s gain. His memories shall live on forever in the hearts of his loved ones. A service, celebrating his life, will be held at Level’s Baptist Church on Monday, May 23, 2016 at 3:00 PM with Rev. Clint Bartlett and Rev. Randall Horres officiating. The interment will follow in the church cemetery. The Deacons of his church will serve as Pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorials, in his honor, may be made to the American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, S.C. 29210.
