John H. Conaway

CONAWAY-Mr. John H. Conaway, Jr., age 81, of Graniteville, S. C., husband of the late Julia Christine Creed Conaway and son of the late John H. Conaway, Sr. and the late Mattie Lucille Chambley Conaway, entered into rest on Sunday, May 20, 2012. He is survived by daughters, Shirley Ann Conaway and Jessica R. Swearingen both of Graniteville; sons, Larry Eugene Conaway of Graniteville and John H. Conaway, III of Warrenville; sisters, Sue Perkins of Graniteville, Sandra Kelley of Aiken, Jeannie Hicks of Warrenville, Sondra Lewis and Cindy Lewis both of Graniteville; brothers, Roscoe (Buck) Conaway, James (Bill) Conaway and Ronnie Conaway all of Graniteville and George Rufus Conaway of North Augusta; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, twelve nieces and nine nephews. He was born in Columbus, Georgia but has been a resident of Aiken County for the past 68 years. He retired from the spinning department of Graniteville Company, and he had also worked as a Security Guard. He shall be greatly missed by his family, friends and all whose lives he touched during his lifetime; however, he shall live on forever in everyone’s hearts. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, May 23rd from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. A graveside service, celebrating his life, will be held Thursday, May 24th at 2:00 PM at the Graniteville Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at the graveside by 1:45 PM.
