Mr. Joel Denzil Baughman, 83, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joel and Eula Mae Baughman; sister, Pearlie Herron; and grandson, Jeremy Bryant.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Hazel Baughman; sons, Tracy Baughman, Kenneth Baughman; daughters, Tonya (Wayne) Bryant, Tabatha (Ronnie) Versch; brothers, Eugene Baughman, Norman Baughman, Donnie Baughman, Wayne Baughman; sisters Jeanette Widener, Evelyn Miano, Lois Kelley, Eyvonne Benson, Wanda Tucker; grandchildren, Tracy (Tailor) Baughman, LaManda Thompson, Bradley (Alice) Bryant, Brandon (Kaylyn) Bryant, Justin Versch, Jessica (Tadd) Eubanks, Olivia Versch, Hailee Baughman, Laken Baughman; 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Joel, along with his wife, owned and operated Ridge Builders Inc for over 45 years. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in North Augusta. He served as a pastor of 6 different churches, and did missionary works in Haiti, Mexico, and West Virginia. He was an avid fisherman and loved to study his Bible and write sermons. He loved life, his family, and his God. He will be remembered for being a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather.
A Funeral Service, celebrating his life, will be held 10 A.M. Saturday January 7, 2023 at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 2094 Columbia Hwy N, Aiken, SC 29805, with Pastors Charles Stalvey and C.T. Townsend to officiate. The burial will follow immediately at Aiken Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Bradley Bryant, Brandon Bryant, Tadd Eubanks, TJ Baughman, Justin Versch, and Michael McKnight.
