Beloved mother and grandmother, Joan Nehoma Baggott Herron (also known as Nini), passed away at Aiken Regional Medical Center under the care of Trinity Hospice on December 25, 2022 after a long hard fight against pneumonia. Born August 18, 1938, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, the love of her life, Paul Edward Herron, who passed away 16 years ago.
A daughter of the late Wilson Baggott and Olivia Blackwell Baggott, Joan was a lifelong resident of Aiken. She was a member of Howlandville Baptist Church as a child and attended Bethel Baptist Church after marrying Paul. The members of her Sunday School Class at Bethel held a special place in her heart.
Joan worked at Owens-Corning Fiberglas for over 15 years. She loved to shag dance and her favorite song was "Old Time Rock n Roll". Joan enjoyed people. She was a feisty lady and adored her family. Christmas was her favorite time of year, all the bells and whistles, the lights, the gatherings. She absolutely enjoyed life. She enjoyed working in her yard with her flowers and feeding the hummingbirds. Known as Granny, she held a special spot in all her children and grandchildren's lives and will be missed more than words can ever express, but we know that she is back with Paul and other family members that have gone on before her. She is healed and happy and no longer in pain.
