Jewell McIntyre Hodson, 89, of Warrenville, SC passed peacefully in the presence of her family on Thursday, July 27th, 2023, in Aiken, SC.
Jewell was born on Sunday, April 8th, 1934, alongside her twin sister, Jean to the late Ruth Havird McIntyre and William Hiram McIntyre in Augusta, GA.
After growing up in Augusta, she married the late James Edward Hodson of Warrenville. They were blessed with five children of which Jewell was so very proud. She attended Warrenville First Baptist Church and had an unwavering faith in the Lord. She was Baptized at Woodlawn Church in Augusta earlier in life and held dear her relationship with Christ. Jewell was a woman of strength, wisdom, grace, and love.
Her family was her pride and joy and she adored being Ma-ma to her 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She loved shopping with her twin sister, sitting on the porch and listening to birds sing, she admired butterflies, and always kept flowers planted at her home. Although she will be greatly missed, today she walks beside Jesus and has been made new. Her life will be celebrated with great joy. Her stories will be told and passed down for years to come and the values that she instilled in her family will live on for generations. The legacy of the remarkable Jewell Elizabeth McIntyre Hodson will be remembered and deeply cherished.
She is preceded in death by; James Edward Hodson (Husband), Ruth Havird McIntyre (Mother), William Hiram McIntyre (Father), William Harold McIntyre (Brother), Betty Hair Havird (Grandmother), William Benjamin Havird (Grandfather), Larry Freedman Riggs (Son in Law), and Eddie Arnold Yonce (Son in Law).
She is survived by; Siblings- Jean Lamb Children- Connie Riggs, Eddie Hodson, Linda Yonce, Nancy Garvin (Bill), and Annette Gibson. Grandchildren- Brandon Hodson, Jamie Hodson, Mark Yonce Sr. (Ashley), Kevin Yonce, Brittany Yonce (David), Timothy Yonce, Christopher Garvin (Elaine), Michael Garvin, Stacey Purkey, Jessica Walters (Mitchell), and Samantha Huckabee (Hudson). Great-Grandchildren- Kaitlin Hodson, Hayden Hodson, Mark Yonce Jr., Matthew Yonce, Aaron Yonce, Braxton Yonce, Breanna Shedd, Brynnlee Shedd, and Charlie Walters.
A funeral honoring her life and legacy will be held on Tuesday, August 1st, 2023, at 2pm in the chapel of Napier Funeral Home. The interment will immediately follow at the Historic Graniteville Cemetery. The family will accept friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons; Brandon Hodson, Jamie Hodson, Mark Yonce Sr., Timothy Yonce, Christopher Garvin, Michael Garvin and honorary pallbearer Kevin Yonce.
