James "J. H." Peanut & Shorty) Widener

WIDENER-James H. “J. H.” (AKA Peanut & Shorty) Widener, age 76, of Aiken, S.C., loving husband for 58 years to Margaret Baughman Widener, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 20, 2015. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Reggie (Stephanie) Widener of Aiken, S.C., Bryan (Robin) Widener of Lexington, S.C. and Stacy (Caitlyn) Widener of Aiken, S.C.; sisters, Minnie Mae Boyd of Warrenville, S.C., June W. (Don) Roberts of Aiken, S.C. and Alberta (Michael) Newsome of Ridge Spring, S.C.; brothers, Edward (Brenda) Widener of Aiken, S.C. and Larry (Carolyn) Widener of Neeses, S.C.; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Laverne and Robert Widener and a sister-in-law, Tammy Widener. He was born in Vaucluse, S.C. and was a lifelong resident of Aiken County. He was a retired truck driver with Aiken County. He was a member of University Parkway Church of God in Aiken, formerly Vaucluse Church of God. He enjoyed playing his guitar, writing songs and singing for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a devoted husband, father and brother. Peanut and Shorty, as he was so fondly known by his family and friends, always had a smile for everyone he met, which yielded him many friends. He shall be greatly missed by his family and all whose lives he touched during the 76 years that God granted him on this earth; however, death cannot destroy precious memories, and he shall live on forever in the hearts of his love ones. A service, celebrating his life and home going, will be held at University Parkway Church of God on Friday, January 23, 2015 at 3:30 PM with Rev. Henry B. Shaffer officiating. The interment will follow at Aiken Memorial Park in Aiken, S.C. The Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews, Zach Widener, Will Widener, Scott Adams, Chris Widener, Steve Corbitt, Anson “Red” Harding and Troy Widener. The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Thursday evening, January 22nd from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
