James Don Ferguson

FERGUSON-Entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 29, 2010, Mr. James “Don” Ferguson, age 72 of North Augusta, S. C., loving husband for 26 years to Hazel Rodgers Ferguson and son of the late Joe Lloyd Ferguson, Sr. and the late Ruby Cox Ferguson. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Tammy Baker and Darlene Lindsey both of Augusta, Ga..; sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Charlotte McNeely of Mascoutah, Illinois; Lewis and Kim McNeely of Acworth, Ga.; a brother, Bobby D. Ferguson of North Augusta, S. C.; sisters-in-law, Pat Baker of Graniteville, S.C.; Bert Ferguson of Aiken, S.C.; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joe L. Ferguson, Jr.; a son-in-law, Alan Lindsey and a sister-in-law, June Ferguson. He was born in Allendale, S. C. but has been a lifelong resident of Aiken County. He was of the Baptist faith. He retired from S. C. Electric & Gas , Urquhart Division at Beech Island, S.C. after 35 years of dedicated service. He was a US Marine Corp Veteran. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather; and next to his love for his family, came his love for traveling. Yes, you could definitely say he was a avid traveler, as he and his wife had been on over 28 cruises together. He will truly be missed by his family, friends and all whose lives he touched during the 72 years that God granted him on this earth; however, life for Don has not ended, he has just made a transition to his new Heavenly home. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home with Rev. Lewis McNeely, Speakers, Captain Ray McNeely and Mr. Rich Baker officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the memorial service. The family would like to express a heartfelt “thank you” to Regency Hospice for the wonderful care they extended to their loved one during his illness.
