James Robert "Bob" DeLoach

DeLoach-Mr. James Robert “Bob” DeLoach, age 83, of Graniteville, S.C., loving husband for 58 years to Katrena Moseley DeLoach and son of the late Harold Bradford DeLoach, Sr. and the late Sallie May Douglas DeLoach, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 26, 2013. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy DeLoach (Randy) Holley and Jane R. DeLoach (Ben) Timmerman; grandchildren, Jonathan (Erin), Kristyn & Laura Holley & Brabham & Bobbi Timmerman; a great grandchild, Jonathan Nicholas Holley, II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Bradford DeLoach, Jr. He was born on December 11, 1929 in Augusta, Ga. Because of the Great Depression, his family moved to Saluda, S.C. when he was five years old, and they lived there until he was the age of twelve. He attended Kindergarten in Augusta, Georgia, Elementary School in Saluda, S.C. and High School at Leavelle McCampbell in Graniteville, S.C. To further his education, he attended Clemson University for short courses, Aiken Technical College for Computer courses, and the University of Georgia, majoring in Chemistry/Physics. After graduating from High School in 1947, he was employed with Graniteville Company in the Activated Sludge Sewage Treatment Plant. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1950 to 1954, spending two years in the West Indies. He also bravely served his country during the Korean Conflict. After his Military Service, he returned to work with Graniteville Company in the Water Treatment Plant. After attending the University of Georgia, once again he returned to work with Graniteville Company in the Research Department. He retired in August, 1987 as Corporate Director of Technical Development/Director of Research and Development. In 1987 Bob & Katrena became co-owners of DeLoach Enterprises Consulting Firm and Laboratory. After retiring once again in 1999, he enjoyed traveling & working on the science of computers. Also, he volunteered to serve on the Building & Grounds Committee at Warrenville First Baptist Church at which he had been a member since 1942. Through the years, he served as Boy Scout Master, RA Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Choir Director & Member of the Adult Choir, Treasurer, Bible School, Chairman of Deacons, Nominating Committee, an Usher, and just wherever else he was needed. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #77, Star Lodge #99 & Warrenville Community Counsel. His pride & joy was his children, grandchildren and great grandson. He would incorporate science into all things, whether it was sports, music, gardening, cooking, traveling, etc. He was called the “Scientist” by his children and grandchildren. He would perform science projects with his children & grandchildren at home. His hobby revolved around science. He was proud of his accomplishments: (2) U.S. Patents & (2) Joint Patents. He made major contributions in developing new products such as: Wash process for stone washed jeans, soil release, permanent press, fabric for circus tents, eliminated twisted legs in jeans, art canvas, fabric for hot air balloons, vacuum cleaner bags, coated fabrics for apparel labels, fabric for outdoor furniture, rental garments and many more. While he was proud of his accomplishments, he was most proud of his family and knowing that he had a part in his children & grandchildren accepting Christ as their Lord & Savior. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening, September 29th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A service celebrating his life & home going will be held in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home on Monday, September 30, 2013 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Arthur Zawislak and Rev. J. B. Redd officiating. The interment will follow the service at the Graniteville Cemetery. Gary Ricketts will honor his service to his country by playing Taps. Active & Inactive Deacons and his Sunday School Class Members will serve as Active & Honorary Pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, contributions, in his honor, may be made to Connie Maxwell Home for Children or to Operation Christmas Child (Christmas Shoe Boxes) in care of the Warrenville First Baptist Church, P.O.
