DEAS-Mr. James C. “Nick†Deas, age 67, of Aiken, S.C., beloved husband of Jeanette Randall Deas, and son of the late Walter Wilson Deas and the late Susie Lowe Deas, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 21, 2011. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Misty and John Reynolds of Trenton, S.C.; sons and daughters-in-law, James Russell and Diane Deas of Aiken, S.C., John Cleveland and April Deas of Jackson, Mark Anthony and Brandi Deas of Aiken, S.C.; sisters, Lillian Marlow of Marietta, Ga. and Shirley Kilpatrick of Graniteville, S.C.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter Marvin and Betty Deas of Graniteville, S.C., Howard and Nelda Deas of Franklin, N.C.; an uncle, Olin Lowe of Aiken,S.C.; grandchildren, Jamie and Starr, Brandon and Saundra, Zeke, Drew, Dawn, Tori, Zack, Chris, Payton, Brittany and Kimberly; great grandchildren, Hanna, Jiya and Faith, and of course, his four-legged baby, his dog, Gizmo. He was born in and was a lifetime resident of Aiken County, S.C. He was a retired Shift Foreman with Gregg Finishing Plant, and he was also a retired Staff Sergeant with the S. C. National Guard. He was a dedicated member of Bethel Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and in any other capacity as needed. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. Even though, his health was failing, he always had a smile for everyone that he met and a great personality. Next to his love for his church, came his unconditional love for his family. He was an avid fisherman, and he really enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Needless to say, he shall be greatly missed by his family, friends and all whose lives he touched during the 67 years that God granted him on this earth; however there is a consolation in knowing that life for Mr. Deas has not ended; just only begun in a land with no more pain nor sorrow. To be absent from the body is to be present with God. A service celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church in Aiken, S.C. with Rev. Brancie Stephens officiating. The interment will follow at the Warrenville Cemetery. Members of the S.C. National Guard will serve as pallbearers. Members of Bethel Baptist Church Men’s Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening, April 25th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Memorials, in Mr. Deas’ honor, may be made to the American Heart Association, 1003 Hammond Rd, Aiken, S.C. 29803. Mr. Deas will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
