Ida Leen Hendrix McGowen

December 31, 1969 — February 16, 2014

McGowan- Ida Leen Hendrix McGowan, 84, former resident of Warrenville, S.C., loving wife of Marion David McGowan and daughter of the late Julie Pearl Hendrix Screws, Troy Hendrix and stepfather, George Screws, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 16, 2014. In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter, Joyce Ann (“Chuck” deceased) Cliatt; son, Danny McGowan, ; brothers, Allen (Terry) Hendrix, Bob (Miriam) Hendrix and Carlton Hendrix; Uncle, Victor P. (Gail) Kirkland and sisters-in-law, Sybil Plemmons and Rose Yarbrough; grandchildren, Amanda and Chea Cliatt and Devin McGowan; step grandchildren, Jennifer Doherty, Laura Walker and several great grandchildren. Ida Leen was previously co-owner of McGowan Furniture Company in Warrenville, S.C. She was a member of Cornerstone Primitive Baptist Church in Martinez, Ga. and was very active and available for service to her Lord. She was a precious lady full of love for her Savior and her family. She shall be sorely missed on this earth; however, life for her has not ended, as God has promised eternal life for all who believe and trust in Him. A service, celebrating her life and home going, will be held at First Primitive Baptist Church at 2020 Highland Avenue in Augusta, Ga. on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 12:30 PM with her brother, Rev. Carlton Hendrix, officiating, assisted by Elder Scott Riner and Elder Max Hicks. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. The interment will follow the service at West View Cemetery in Augusta, Ga. Her family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to the employees and staff of The Place in Martinez and to the University Hospital Heart and Vascular Institute in Augusta, for the wonderful love and care given to their loved one during her illness.
