BODIE–Mr. Heyward L. Bodie, age 87, of Aiken, S.C., devoted husband for over 50 years to the late Myrtle Eubanks Bodie and son of the late Fred Bodie and the late Mattie Lee Whittle Bodie, answered God’s call and entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 22, 2012. He is survived by a son, Charles Michael Bodie; a brother, Fred Bodie, Jr.; a sister, Marie Carver; two special nieces, Linda Weaver and Brenda Lybrand all of Aiken, S.C. He was preceded in death by brothers, Carl Bodie and Leland Bodie and a sister, Helen French. He was born in and was a lifelong resident of Aiken, S.C. He retired from Savannah River Site after many years of service. He was a devoted Christian and regularly attended Lighthouse Baptist Church in Aiken, which he loved dearly. He really enjoyed listening to Gospel and bluegrass music. He also loved old cars. He was a real people person and a friend to all, which explains why he enjoyed visiting friends and shut-ins with his Pastor. Yes, he will surely be missed by his family, many friends and all whose lives he touched during the 87 precious years that God granted him on this earth; however, death is not the end for Heyward, as God has promised eternal life for all who believe on Him. He has just made a transition to his new Heavenly home, where there is no more pain or sorrow. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 26th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. A service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Aiken, S. C. with Rev. Eric Kincaid officiating. The interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery in Aiken. The Deacons of his church will serve as pallbearers.
