H. D. Lewis

LEWIS-H.D. LEWIS, age 85, of Graniteville, S.C., husband of the late Betty Beard Lewis and son of the late Joe L. and Ellen Toole Lewis, left his families’ side to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on the Lord’s Day, Sunday, September 4, 2016. He is survived by daughters, Diane (Mike) Rowland of Clearwater, S.C. and Debra (Terry) Hickman of Graniteville, S.C.; sisters, Glenda (Gene) Leroy of Macon, Ga. and Janice (Ronald) Collum of Warrenville, S.C.; grandchildren, Chad (Tonya) Rowland, Andrea (Jason) House, Heather (Chris) Corley, Paige (Chad) Fields, Cole Lewis, Laurie (Bill) Scott and Wendy (Cliff) Kizer; eighteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and a daughter in law, Lisa Lewis of Beech Island. He was preceded in death by his son Mark Lewis. He was born in Colquitt County, Ga. He was a dedicated member of Warrenville First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for over 50 years. During his working years, he worked, until retirement, as a Supervisor for Graniteville Company. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather and friend who loved the Lord and was a perfect example for anyone to follow. He was a very pleasant person who was very easy to converse with, and he was highly regarded in the community. He never met a stranger which yielded him many friends. A man of his caliber shall be greatly missed by his family, friends and all whose lives he touched during the 85 precious years that God granted him on this earth; however, death is not the end, as he had just answered God’s call and has now taken ownership of his new Heavenly Home, where all is joy and peace in that land of endless tomorrows. “To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord.” The family will receive friends at the funeral home this Tuesday evening, September 6th from 6:00 until 8:00. A service, celebrating his life and home going, will be held at Warrenville First Baptist Church on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Rev. J. B. Redd and Rev. Stephen Phillips officiating. The interment will follow at the Graniteville Cemetery. The Pallbearers will be Danny Huff, Randy Huff, Wayne Huff, Daniel Smith, Todd Collum, Chris Barrett and Ken Britt. His Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
