Gwendolyn Whittle Spires

SPIRES-Mrs. Gwendolyn Whittle Spires, age 82, of Warrenville, S.C., loving wife of Angus E. Spires and daughter of the late Wilbur E. Whittle and the late Minnie Lee Garland Whittle, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 20, 2012. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Angela S. (Tom) Christmas of Summerville, S.C.; sons, Robert E. (Susie) Spires of Aiken, S.C., Calvin B. (Deborah) Spires of Graniteville, S.C.; grandsons, Christopher Christmas, Jason Christmas, Eric Christmas, Brunson Spires, Philip Spires, Mathew Spires and Dylan Johnson; granddaughters, Jennifer Johnson, Tiffani Johnson, Anna Stone, Amanda Hawkins, Mandy Brant and Tonya Miller and a number of great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Jean Spires. She was born in and was a lifetime resident of Aiken County, S.C. She attended Warrenville Church of God. She was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She shall be greatly missed by her family, friends and all whose lives she touched during the 82 precious years that God granted her on this earth; however, life does not end at death for God has promised eternal life for all who believe on Him. Family and friends may call at the residence, Monday evening, May 21st from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A graveside service celebrating her life will be held Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 4:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Langley, S.C. WITH Rev. Robert Skelton officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Everyone attending the service is asked to meet at the graveside by 3:45 PM.
