SHEPPARD-Gertrude Ready Sheppard, age 90, of Aiken, S. C., wife of the late William Sheppard and daughter of the late Willie Ward Ready and the late Bonnie Owens Ready, entered into rest at her residence on Sunday, May 22, 2016. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Patricia Sheppard of Trenton, S. C. and a brother, Lewis Ready of Graniteville, S.C. She was born in and was a lifelong resident of Aiken County, S.C. She was of the Methodist Faith. She retired from Southern Bell. She was a loving mother, sister and friend, who shall be greatly missed by her family and all whose lives she touched during the 90 precious years that God granted her of this earth. Death is not the end for her, as she has just made that great transition to her new Heavenly home in a land of endless tomorrows, where the soul shall never die, and we never have to say goodbye. Earth’s loss is truly Heaven’s gain. A service, celebrating her life and home going, will be held in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 4:00 PM with Rev. Gene Wilson officiating. The interment will follow at the Graniteville Cemetery. The Pallbearers will be Kenny Kneece, Cameron Kneece, Joe Taylor, William Jeffers, Alvin Phillips, Jr. and Keith Cromer. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. The family would like to extend a very special “Thank You†to caregivers, Brenda Williams, Ashley Thomas, Cindy Duncan and Regency Hospice for the outstanding care that they gave to their loved one during her illness.
