JOHNSON-Mr. George D. Johnson, Jr., age 78, of Trenton, S.C., beloved husband for over 54 years to Betty Jane Willing Johnson and son of the late George D. Johnson, Sr. and the late Minnie McNeeley Johnson entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 12, 2012. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, George D. (Cherrie) Johnson, III of Trenton; daughters, Jackie (Jerry) Dudley of Trenton, Robbie (Ricky) Boyd of Gloverville; brothers, Van (Peggy) Johnson of Trenton and Eugene Johnson of Gloverville; grandchildren, Ricky Boyd, Jr., Jenny (Chris Kirkbride) Dudley, Heather (Jimmie) Womack, Alexandria (Brandon) Bryan and Bryana Johnson; great grandchildren, Jackson Kirkbride and baby Bryan on the way. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Dudley. He was born in Louisvile, Ga. but has spent most of his life in the local area. He was a member of Sweetwater Church of God. He built the Southside Baptist Church in Gloverville. He loved working with young people, as was evident by his being a Royal Ranger Leader. He coached the Dixie Youth Baseball Team; and in 1975 under his leadership, they won the Championship. He was a US Army Veteran having bravely served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was a well-rounded loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He shall be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched during the 78 precious years that God granted him on this earth; however, life does not end with death, as God had promised eternal life for all who believe on Him. He has just gone to receive his much deserved reward. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, March 15th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM A service celebrating his homegoing will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Scott and Rev. Earl Satcher officiating. The interment will follow at the Graniteville Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Bo Herndon, Clem Campbell, Shot Lanier, Ren Fell and Mark Mitchum.
