Frank W. Medlock

MEDLOCK-Mr. Frank W. Medlock, age 98, of Indianapolis, Indiana, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 14, 2011. He was the husband of the late Olive Edna Litz Medlock and the son of the late Frank Hampton Medlock and the late Pauline Burton Medlock. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Dolores Ann Medlock Graham and John Graham of Whidbey Island, Washington; his son and daughter-in-law, Robert C. and Theresa Donohue Medlock of Indianapolis, Indiana; his niece, Vicki Bolton of Aiken, S.C.; a cousin, Sarah Medlock of Graniteville, S.C.; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Frank was born in Graniteville, S.C. on June 15, 1912. In 1928, at the young age of 16, he left Graniteville and joined the US Navy. During his 30- year career, he served throughout the country and ports of call in China, South America and Cuba. He Served on board the Battle Ship USS Maryland and the Sub Tender USS in the Pacific during World War II. In 1951, he was the Naval aide to an Army General in Iceland. After his Navy retirement, Frank worked for Convair Astronautics in San Diego, CA and the State of California. He and his late wife, Olive came back to Aiken County in 1974 to retire. They were together 73 years before her passing in 2004. Frank was active in the Retired Officers Club, the Military Order of World Wars and the Senior Men’s Club at Houndslake. In 2009, he moved to Indianapolis, Indiana to be closer to his son, Robert and family. He shall be greatly missed by his family, friends and all whose lives he touched during the 98 years that God granted him on this earth; however, there is a consolation in knowing that life for Frank has not ended for the gift of God is eternal life. A service celebrating his life will be conducted on Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home. The interment will follow at the Graniteville Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening, April 20th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Family and friends may also stop by Sarah Medlock’s residence in Graniteville on Wednesday or Thursday. Napier Funeral Home, 315 Main Street, Graniteville, S.C. 29829 is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
