ESTHER DODGEN TAYLOR

TAYLOR-Entered into eternal rest on Sunday, October 24, 2010, Mrs. Esther Dodgen Taylor, age 89 of Aiken, S.C., wife of the late C. Bruce Fox and the late Henry Kenneth Taylor and daughter of the late Henry Martin Dodgen and the late Ella Derrick Dodgen. She is survived by a stepson, Billy Taylor and his wife, Dotti of Columbia, S.C.; nieces, Ann Gordon and her husband, Ronnie of Graniteville, S.C. and Ruth Orr of North Augusta, S.C.; great nephews, Terry Dugas of Lincoln, Nebraska, Kevin Gordon and Stephen Gordon both of Graniteville, S.C.; great niece, Katherine D. Lowry, Norcross, Ga.; great-great nephews, Justin Dugas and Alec Dugas both of Lincoln, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by: two brothers, W. H. Dodgen, Sr. and Eugene Dodgen; a sister, Oris Dodgen Smith; two nephews, W. H. Dodgen, Jr. and Martin Eugene Dodgen. She was born in Graniteville, S.C. and has been a lifelong resident of Aiken County. She was a retired cosmetologist. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Graniteville; there she was a member of the O.W.L’s (Older Wise Lutherans) and the Archie Dodgen Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Graniteville Leisure Club, and her favorite pasttime was her Uno Club. Esther was a gracious lady who took pride in her appearance, and she always had a beautiful smile on her face. Needless to say, she shall be greatly missed by her family and friends; however, life for her has not ended just only begun, as she has gone to receive her much deserved “Crown of Life”. A celebration of life service will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. James Lutheran Church in Graniteville with Rev. Barry T. Antley officiating. The entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Graniteville. The pallbearers will be Milton Rogers, Stephen Gordon, Wayne Fulmer, Hiram Redd, Gilbert Vance, Tony Carroll. Bob Petrulovich will serve as an alternate. The family will receive friends at Napier Funeral Home tonight, Monday, October 25th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to St. James Lutheran Church, 200 Laurel Drive, Graniteville, S.C. 29829 or a charity of one’s choice.
