Ernest Walter Newell, Jr.

March 24, 1938 — July 17, 2018

Mr. Ernest Walter Newell, Jr., age 80, beloved husband of 55 years to Mrs. Helene F. Newell, entered into eternal rest peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, July 17th, 2018. He was born on March 24, 1938 in Halifax, Vermont, to Ellen (Sisson) Newell and Ernest Walter Newell of Keene, New Hampshire. He lived the majority of his life in Greenfield and South Deerfield, Massachusetts and then moving to Aiken, South Carolina in 2013 to be closer to his family.

Ernest proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1960. Upon being discharged from the Navy, he worked most of his career at Miller Falls Tool Company/Ingersoll Rand and A&O Corporation as a Draftsman and Engineer. Ernest was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #997 in Greenfield, Massachusetts where he performed financial management. He was recognized as an Honorary Pilgrim, a degree of merit with the highest honor that can be bestowed upon a member of the Loyal Order of Moose for their service.

Upon retiring, he was an avid golfer. He enjoyed his time golfing as a member of the Greenfield Meadows and vacationing with friends at various golf courses around New England. He enjoyed going to the local Dunkin Donuts in South Deerfield every morning, talking and drinking coffee with friends. He also had a passion for project design and helping family, friends and neighbors with their building projects. He was always willing to volunteer his time to help those with a need.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his 2 sons, David J. Newell and his wife Natacha, and John E. Newell of Aiken, South Carolina; beloved grandchildren, Sydney, Olivia and Gage Newell. His siblings, Wayne Newell, Janice Johnson, and Brenda Cody.

He will be greatly missed by all whose lives he impacted in the 80 precious years he had on earth. All services for Mr. Newell will be private.
