Eler Mills Altman

ALTMAN-Ms. Eler Mills Altman, age 98, of Trenton, S.C., daughter of the late Bluford Mills and the late Ellie Preston Mills, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 29, 2012. She is survived by a son Dennis (Gloria) Altman of Trenton; daughters, Minnie Mae Altman of Trenton and Lucille Altman Redd of Aiken; and she was the proud grandmother of twelve grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and nineteen great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six children: Everette Altman, Jr, Milledge Altman, Gladys Altman,, Nancy Faye Altman, Patricia “Trisha” Altman, Agnes Altman Redd and two grandchildren, Darlene Giddens and Matthew Altman. She was born in Lexington County, S.C. but was a lifelong resident of Aiken County. She was the oldest member of Vaucluse Baptist Church. She retired from Graniteville Company. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who always put her children and family first in her life. She was a real people person who really enjoyed doing volunteer work at the Salvation Army. Yes, she shall be greatly missed by her family, friends and all whose lives she touched during the 98 precious years that God granted her on this earth; however, her life does not end with death as God has promised eternal life for all who believe on Him. She will also live on forever in the hearts of her family and loved ones. A service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, May 31st at 5:00 PM in the Chapel of Napier Funeral Home with Rev. Cecil Goff officiating. The interment will follow at the Vaucluse Cemetery. The Pallbearers will be Chad Redd, Brandon Redd, Mike Redd, Dean Redd, Nathan Melton, Brad Rodgers and Frankie Baughman. The family will receive friends at the son’s residence in Trenton or at the funeral home from 3:00 PM until the hour of service on Thursday. Memorials, in Ms. Altman’s honor, may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Rd., Greenville, S.C. 29605 or to a charity of one’s choice.
