Ms. Dorothy Boatright Mathis, age 97, wife of the late Alex Mathis, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 29th, 2018, at her residence. She is survived by her grandson, Larry Sans (Laurie) Mathis and his mother Faye Duggan from Jacksonville, Florida.; great grandson, Winston Cole Mathis; brother, Beman Boatright; sister, Wylene Lewis; a host of family from Jacksonville Florida which include: Lynn, Johnny, Tammy and Angel; a special friend, Shirley White of Decatur, Georgia, and cherished friends and family whose selfless love for her showed in all they did; Joel and Jan Randall, Wayne and Angie Hicks. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, Britton and Maggie Key Boatright; step mother, Goy Boatright; son, Larry Mathis; brother, Myron Boatright; sisters, Georgia Hicks Gunter, Lacy Cook, Josie Autry, Eula Screws, Margie Quattlebaum, Matie Waters, and Annie Mae Lamb. Ms. Mathis was retired from the Graniteville Company Hickman Division and was a faithful member of Christian Heritage Church for over 70 years. She loved the Lord and served him with all of her heart, and as a result of that, she is in His presence. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, January 2nd, 2019 at Christian Heritage Church in Graniteville, at 2 o'clock pm, with Rev. Stephen Phillips officiating. The interment will immediately follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Graniteville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
