PATTON-Mr. Donald W. Patton, Sr., age 78, of Aiken,, S.C., loving husband for 56 wonderful years to Betty Moore Patton and son of the late Claude H. Patton and the late Alma Jaudon Patton, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 22, 2014. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Gary Dale Patton of the home, three granddaughters and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by a son, Donald W. Patton, Jr. He was born in Tampa, Florida but has been a resident of Aiken County, S.C. for the past 24 years. He was a retired salesman with the Cameron and Barclay Company having worked in their Charleston and Florence, S.C. locations for over 21 years. After retiring from that job, he enjoyed helping people, so he went took a job at Sears in Aiken and worked there until his failing health. He served with the Army Reserves for eight years. He was a member of Highland Pines Baptist Church in Aiken. When he was in good health, he really enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He shall be greatly missed by all whose lives he touched during the 78 years that God granted him on this earth; however, death cannot destroy precious memories, and he shall live on forever in the hearts of his loved ones. He has finished life’s journey and is now at peace with his Maker. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. A service, celebrating his life and home going will be held at Highland Pines Baptist Church on Hampton Avenue in Aiken, S.C. on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Wesley Greene officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. The interment will follow the service at Aiken Memorial Park.
